Margie Imus

President/Founder, Minglewood Farm and Nature Preserve

Board Chair

Margie developed a connection to the natural world by working in her grandmother’s garden as a young girl. From then on, she knew she wanted to live in the country where she could walk in the woods and tend to a garden. Those dreams turned into a reality when her and her husband Bill found a very special piece of property on Minglewood Rd. in Westfield, NC. Between Margie’s love of flowers, the land and seasonal growing, she knew her next life-path was to share the beauty of Minglewood with others, and to educate them on the importance of being stewards of the natural world.

Bill Imus

Farm Director/Founder

Advisory Board

Bill became a naturalist at a young age; taking it upon himself to discover and learn about the biodiversity of North Carolina’s rich forests. Bill spent many years working in the food and hotel industries, and opened his own successful restaurant the Cumberland Café. He grew seasonal and organic produce for the menu, and eventually saw an opportunity to farm full-time. Turning an idea into a life’s passion, Bill now shares his knowledge and experience educating our future farmers and naturalists.

Bert has spent many summer days fishing, hiking, camping and even—for one day when he was 13 y/o—priming tobacco at the Wood Family Farm just west of Minglewood. After almost 40 years as a CEO of human service nonprofits and retiring, he has spent the last year in a 120 year old farmhouse on a river in southwest Virginia. Besides spending time riding bikes and enjoying the New River, he enjoys golf, spending time with his grandchildren and supporting nonprofit efforts in education, conservation and arts organizations.
