  • Commitment:

    This is an “as needed” position based on upcoming events and specific activities that require someone to be onsite. Must attend initial training and direction from staff. 6-month commitment preferred.

    Distinguishing Features of the Position:

    Farm Tours: Interpretive volunteers help motivate visitors to appreciate the earth and its wildlife and to conserve its resources through interacting with visitors, answering questions, and explaining the history of various locations. Volunteers give tours of the farm, answer questions about the organization and share our message. Training is provided. Hours and days are flexible depending on scheduling needs. Duties may vary at the discretion of Minglewood staff.

    Volunteer Trail Guides: Trail Guides assist with conducting public programs on the land such as hikes and bird watching. Trail Guides receive training in general natural history and group management.

    Minglewood Ambassador: Ambassadors are well-versed in the Mission of Minglewood and can effectively communicate the importance of the work we do. They can often represent the Farm and Nature Preserve at festivals and other public events to share awareness and information with the public about the important work we do.

    Qualifications:

    Individuals must have good oral communication skills and be enthusiastic and interested in meeting and working with many types of people. Ability to lead tours and interact with the public to share our mission with others.

    Farm tours are required to be scheduled with one week notice. This position requires availability for on-call farm tours with 1 week notice.

  • Commitment:

    Must attend initial training and direction from staff on using the iNaturalist app. Year-round and seasonal opportunities. 6-month commitment preferred.

    Distinguishing Features of the Position:

    Nature Observation: Spending time in nature promotes physical, emotional, and mental wellness. If you are interested in spending more time outside and want to help collect information to help Minglewood Farm and Nature Preserve improve our programs, please consider becoming a part of the Nature Observation Team. This individual walks our trails and monitors the changes that are occurring throughout our seasons using the iNaturalist App. They are also able to take part in some wonderful opportunities that can help them gain more skills in areas such as plant identification, phenology, and nature observations. This position may have an opportunity to lead a BioBlitz.

    Qualifications:

    Must be able to walk the trails, navigate uneven terrain, and utilize the iNaturalist app on your personal device.

  • Commitment:

    Year-round and seasonal opportunities. 6-month commitment preferred.

    Distinguishing Features of the Position:

    Trail Maintenance: If you love hard work and are handy with a pair of clippers or hand saw, our trails need you! We do our best to keep them well-maintained and free of any branches and debris, but occasionally we need help clearing and maintaining our property.

    Forest Management: The forest surrounding Minglewood Farm is one of our most valuable resources and needs to be monitored and managed in order to maintain its health. We are looking for volunteers who are interested in helping us care for our forest and make sure it is available to visitors for years to come. This includes invasive species removal, trail building, habitat rehabilitation, and grounds maintenance.

    General Labor: Periodically Minglewood needs help with manual labor, basic carpentry skills and installation.

    Qualifications:

    Ability to confidently navigate uneven terrain, transport equipment, and complete physically demanding tasks, such as bending, lifting, carrying and digging.

  • Commitment:

    Time: 2-3 hour shifts. Flexible. Weekdays/weekends. Year-round and seasonal opportunities. Monthly assistance preferred. This position requires training and oversight from our Farm Manager. 6-month commitment preferred.

    Distinguishing Features of the Position:

    The farm at Minglewood is integral to our mission. Volunteers gain and practice their gardening skills while having the opportunity to engage in other garden supporting projects. Like the plants they care for, volunteers have the opportunity to grow into leadership positions. Experienced gardeners and volunteers may have the opportunity to lead educational workshops and trainings on site for guests and volunteers.

    Farm and Garden: Maintain Minglewood’s gardens including vegetable, flower, herb and pollinator garden. Duties include weeding, watering, raking, pruning, propagation, landscaping, harvesting and occasional planting.

    Qualifications:

    Physical Requirements: Ability to sit/stand for multiple hours. Ability to kneel, bend, and use garden tools. Must be able to stand and walk through some uneven terrain.

    Prior Experience working in a garden or nursery is helpful.

  • Commitment:

    This is an “as needed” position based on upcoming events and specific activities that require someone to assist with administrative duties. Year-round opportunities. 6-month commitment preferred.

    Distinguishing Features of the Position:

    Throughout the year we have various projects that require light administrative work. If data entry, folding letters and stuffing envelopes is your dream volunteer job, let us know!

    Additionally, throughout the year we need volunteers to assist with fundraising efforts.

    Qualifications:

    Strong communication skills and ability to follow directions. Ability to work on a team and accept guidance and direction from staff members.
